Val di Noto, home of the Baroque
Ragusa Ibla, Modica and Scicli are the precious baroque pearls of the province of Ragusa, a marvelous challenge to the catastrophic earthquake that struck Sicily in 1693. The whole Val di Noto recovered from its ruins and was rebuilt in a late baroque that still attracts thousands of visitors from all over the world.

The Castle of Donnafugata
Less than 12 kilometers separate Casale Imperatore from one of the jewels of our area, an indispensable destination for anyone spending a few days in the South East of Sicily. Immersed in the Ragusa’s countryside, in fact, stands the Donnafugata Castle which, in the 19th century, was the holiday home of the Sicilian intellectual and politician Baron Corrado Arezzo.
A large neo-gothic style façade is the first thing you will notice of the imposing building consisting of 120 rooms, of which about twenty can be visited: in an instant you will feel immersed in the era of the Sicilian viceroy.
The Castle is also surrounded by a wonderful park of eight hectares where you will find other beautiful examples of architecture and dozens of Mediterranean and exotic plant species: a place so beautiful to be used not only as a film set, but also as a location for events and concerts.
Nature and archaeological sites
The Baroque buildings, the golden beaches and the crystal clear sea entince you to book? Good, but it’s not over yet! Cava della Misericordia, Cava Celone, Cava d’Ispica, Cava dei Servi, Lake Santa Rosalia are some of the sites where you can take long walks and experience unforgettable moments immersed in nature.
Here there are numerous testimonies of the passage of the first Siculians, the Greeks, the Carthaginians, the Romans, the Byzantines: necropolis, catacombs, ancient rock villages still enable us to breathe centuries of distant history.
Near Scoglitti, 15 minutes from Casale Imperatore, you can also visit the Archaeological Museum of Kamarina which houses interesting and rare finds. Immersed in a beautiful natural setting, you will also admire the remains of archaic tombs and ruins of a temple dedicated to Minerva.
