The Castle of Donnafugata

Less than 12 kilometers separate Casale Imperatore from one of the jewels of our area, an indispensable destination for anyone spending a few days in the South East of Sicily. Immersed in the Ragusa’s countryside, in fact, stands the Donnafugata Castle which, in the 19th century, was the holiday home of the Sicilian intellectual and politician Baron Corrado Arezzo.
A large neo-gothic style façade is the first thing you will notice of the imposing building consisting of 120 rooms, of which about twenty can be visited: in an instant you will feel immersed in the era of the Sicilian viceroy.
The Castle is also surrounded by a wonderful park of eight hectares where you will find other beautiful examples of architecture and dozens of Mediterranean and exotic plant species: a place so beautiful to be used not only as a film set, but also as a location for events and concerts.
